How to Find A Good Wedding Videographer

There are plenty of individuals and companies that are making wedding films. If you are searching a videographer for your wedding, then the internet would be the ideal place to look and choose the right one for you. It can be daunting to find a videographer at a geographic location of your choice, because there are so many websites to choose from. When you identify the website, you can always view samples of their work. Every filmmaker has personal style so make sure you fully agree with the wedding videos that they have made. It is possible some of the videos are too long; so you need to focus on the content and its quality as they will give you a much better idea of what the final video will be like. The activities of the wedding day needs to be captured candidly as they happen, carefully selected with a natural perspective of the entire wedding day.

Recently couples have become more enthusiastic about shorter wedding movies that faithfully contain every moment of the wedding ceremony such as the first dance, the toasts, cake cutting. As a matter of fact the quality of the video is a huge part together with the emotional content of the wedding day. Your focus here should be on the equipment that the studio is using so they can create stunning, cinematic and good looking wedding movie.

In order to have the best possible wedding film you need to hire a studio that is able to supply at least two cameras and more videographers to successfully emphasize those special moments. Checking the prices of their packages is something that is a very logical question and depends on the videographer and the options you choose. Wedding video editing means a lot of extra work so it is better to pay a bit more and make sure the quality of the wedding video is adequate and contains the additional costs such as; extra copies, extra hours of filming and more videographers.

After all this consideration and the decision on whom to hire it is important to think about what music do they use and to see if they are respecting the copyright law on the wedding videos. A good rule of thumb is that the sounds and the theme music are appropriate to the actual events, like the ceremony, the venue and recipient of the guests. Additionally, you will certainly want to have a special coverage from the event and this is most often arranged separately.

3 Reasons to Watermark Your Photos

Why Watermark?

You see it all the time when you want to find an image on the Internet. You could download almost any photo, but often they have a watermark on them. Why?

Image providers watermark their photos so that you can look at them and download them, but requires you to pay a fee to use the image without the watermark. You certainly don’t want that watermark visible.

However, fine quality stationery often exhibit faint watermarks that you can see when you hold it up to the light — a mark of elegance, a desirable effect.

The watermarks on your photos that I’m referring to are more like the latter.

They don’t get in the way of the photo, but enhance it and you at the same time.

Here are the three reasons, you might want to watermark your photos.

1. Branding.

Your watermark can be a signature, a small photo or a logo. As such, it serves to brand you. When people look at your images, they learn something about you.

If you consistently show photos that appeal to them, they’ll get to know who you are and look forward to seeing more of what you publish.

Your images may be quotes or landscapes or funny stuff that you share.

2. Promotion.

Watermarks on your photos promote. What do you want viewers to do? Where do you want people to go? What do you want them to see beyond the image?

Answer these questions to determine what kind of watermark you should create.

You may want to promote yourself, your business, a website or blog. Make sure your watermark reflects that.

For example if your business has a logo, choose that for your watermark.

Your signature would be a good choice if you are promoting you,

I chose to create a community on Facebook, and as such, use a logo of its name, which is both personal and business.

If you use social media with its sharing capabilities, your images can potentially be viewed by thousands or million of people. That’s a lot of promotion.

3. Protection.

Certainly if your images go viral on the Internet, you want to protect your brand, so that people cannot simply take your photo and brand it as their own.

Although this latter point isn’t foolproof, because watermarks can ultimately be removed, it has some safety benefit.

In most cases, unless you are a professional photographer, you won’t need to copyright your photos.

If you’re like me, a network marketing professional, you will be using other relevant photos you find online that you want to put your own words to or your favorites quotes.

So that’s it. The 3 reasons why you might want to watermark your photos.

Bonus Reason:

Profit. When you put all these reasons together it adds up to profit for you, your business, your network marketing company.

Quality Memory: How Your SD Card Selection Can Make or Break Your Business

One piece of hardware that is almost as important as a camera to a photographer is the memory card. Without this tiny, portable storage locker, even the best camera would be handicapped. A professional photographer captures hundreds, sometimes thousands of images per client, and all of those memories need a place to go. Cameras themselves either have no internal memory or the memory capacity is extremely limited – therefore, taking photos without a high-quality memory card is rather useless. The memory card is the conduit that takes the images from the camera to a computer where the magic of editing happens so that images can be immortalized and permanently stored. Without it, images would just be lost.

SELECT ONLY THE BEST MEMORY CARDS

Much like professional photographers know the importance of a great camera and an even better lens, they should also know the importance of choosing a high-quality memory card. Purchasing professional equipment is an investment in a photographer’s business. Regardless of price, the best products available should be used in order to provide the utmost in quality and service to clients. Here are some of the things that photographers should consider when selecting memory cards:

    • Size and Capacity: All capacities are different. Consider your typical file size and how many images you shoot per job. Then choose a card that can handle three or more jobs at a time, to be safe. The capacity is typically relative to the size, which can be misleading when only looking at the card’s physical appearance. They are also sometimes similarly named. For example, there’s miniSD, microSD, SD, SDHC, SDXC, etc. That brings us into our next category, speed.
    • Transfer and Read Speeds: The read and transfer speed varies by product. There are usually icons on the packaging to help define the speeds, but those also vary by product and can be confusing. All you really need to know is that it’s important to have high transfer and read speeds, for ease of use and rapid accessibility. Purchasing a card with inferior transfer and read speeds will cause you to lose time when it comes to loading and moving images.
  • Speed Class: Speed class is something that is very important to be aware of and, again, that varies by product and size. There are four different speed classes and two ultra high speed classes available. Depending on the desired file type and size, image quality, and whether or not you’re shooting HD video, speed class is something that can make or break an important photography or videography job. From fastest to slowest, the speed classes are 10, 6, 4, and 2 for regular memory cards. For devices that support UHD, there are two classes of ultra high speed memory available for professional use. This article from howtogeek.com further explains these specs.

RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH PURCHASING LOW QUALITY MEMORY CARDS

Being a professional photographer is expensive, we know. When you’re just starting out, it may be tempting to purchase the most affordable equipment available – but this will only hinder your business. Professional grade, high-quality cameras, lenses, light sources, batteries (and the list goes on) are crucial to operating a successful photography business, right down to the type of memory card you use in your camera. Understanding what to look for is just as important as understanding what to avoid:

  • Low-quality memory cards may have hidden acronyms or specs that affect the card’s performance. Most buyers are unaware of these attributes.
  • Less renowned manufacturers may put inferior memory cards on the market, causing their products to have a higher failure rate.
  • Memory cards have limitations, and purchasing a low-quality product will make you more susceptible to risks like block erasure, memory wear, read disturb, x-ray effects, etc.

In summary, don’t sell your camera or your photography business short by trying to avoid making the investment in high-quality memory. The right memory cards are designed to save you time, provide optimal service, and make you money. A professional photographer should never skimp on the equipment they need to run a successful business.

Join the conversation! What’s your favorite brand of SD card and what capacity/speed do you use? What kind of photography do you shoot and why have you found your favorite brand to be beneficial?

What Is Photography And A Brief History

The first camera was used for perspective drawing; it is a box with a pinhole called the Camera Obscura, meaning ‘Dark Room’ in Latin. Johannes Kepler, a German astronomer first used the term in 1604. The Camera Obscura is a box fitted with a Len in which it faces the targeted image to project an upside down image on a piece of paper therefore artist would trace that image on the paper.

Things started to change for the history of photography during the 17th – 18th century as we as human beings; it is natural for us to be driven to create something better.

In 1717, a German professor named Johann Heinrick Schultz first discovered that images could be recorded using silver nitrate on paper but was not able to sustain the image permanently. This was only the beginning.

Fast forward to 1822, a French artist named Louis Daguerra created the first camera in which he called ‘The Daguerro Type’. ‘The Daguerro Type’ would engrave an image onto a bitumen-coated metal plate calling this process ‘heliograph’. It was not until 1827, when a French inventor named Josph Niepce partnered with Louis Daguerra in which Josph Niepce would create the first permanent photograph named ‘View from the window at Les Gras’. It is the oldest and surviving photograph in history today. During this time, Photography was born.

After a short brief of history in photography, the real question is ‘What is Photography?’

The word ‘Photo’ comes for the Greek word, ‘Light’ and ‘Graph’ means drawing so putting together Photo + Graph means Drawing with light. Photography is art and science combined. It is creating images using light being expose to paper. It is recreating what you see and creating a memory and a story to tell.

In photography, there are many styles and I will only be touching on the general, as creativity is unlimited. Let break photography into 3 general styles. They are Artistic, Documentary and Commercial. All in all the formats are the same, it either film, digital or video.

Firstly will talk about Artistic photography in which artistic is wide and experimental. It is the photographer that tells his story from his image. It can go as wide as taking landscape, architecture, street performance or art and people’s expression or body language. It could be planned or natural depending on the nature of your story.

Secondly, documentary is a little different. It can be artistic in some ways but this type of photography is normally a long process and deals with real life situation and cultures. As it is hard to determine what real and what not nowadays it all depends on the nature of the photographer. It is a report scenario in which putting together what you have shot and telling your story through that sequence.

Lastly one of the most common and widely recognized photography types is commercial photography. Commercial photography means paid photography in which you are paid by a company or client to create artistic photographs. Few examples like weddings, advertising or fashion shows. In commercial photography, photographers uses a lot of equipment like spot lights and softener etc. to manipulate the ‘look’ and ‘feel’ of photographs and it is known to break most rules in photography for it unconventional methods.

Photography involves a lot of introspection the deeper you get, the more you tuned to what you are interested in, how you feel, and what you want to say to the viewers. As you shoot, you learn about yourself, your values and a different perspective of the world around you. Photography is a fantastic story telling medium and the possibilities are endless.

To Capture Products, You Must Take These 7 Things Into Considerations

Over the years, a lot has been happening in photography and its demand has only increased. Several genres of photography have been established, and individuals all around the globe have created an affinity towards this art. Product photography, for instance, is now a vital part of every business that sells goods and services. These days, marketing of such goods and services is imperative which is precisely why it is essential to take several aspects into consideration before clicking product photos.

Some of the aspects which you should cater to are:-

  • Background: Well obviously, a background can make or break a picture which is precisely why you should always use a crisp white background. In case it is being utilized for an E-commerce website or online store, you should make sure that you get the perfect white colour by editing in Photoshop. But in case you need to use a vivid background, ensure that the colours make the product stand out and not the other way around.
  • Depth of field: In case the items are patterned, make sure that your DSLR is set to the lowest priority of the aperture. This will ensure that the focus is entirely on the subject, and the background will come out blurry. This is great if you want to initiate an interest in the picture and enhance its emphasis.
  • Lighting: Probably the most important aspect of any image is its lighting. Without proper lighting, you can’t capture anything. In this genre, you will have to be meticulous about how to set up the lights. Some items will require back light while others will require bottom lighting. If you want to capture something great, you have to cater to lighting very carefully.
  • Props: Capturing an item just against a plain background can look bland which is why you should also use some props. It can be anything which can add to the aesthetic appeal of the item you are capturing. You can also add props to the images while the post processing stage. This will give the customers a fair idea of the usability of the item.
  • Reflection: Reflection can either be a good or a bad thing for you. The subtle reflection looks great, but there are certain reflections which should never be used. For instance, if you are capturing an item and your reflection comes in the mirror, you should immediately discard it. Also, make sure that you don’t force a reflection; it’s not mandatory.
  • Shadow: To create good colour value, it’s important to have shadows where there is light; it complements them. If you cast a shadow over the item, it will help harmonize it with the environment.
  • Sharpness: In order for the items to be portrayed in detail, it is important to ensure that the sharpness is accurate. Blurry and out of focus images have no place in the market which is why you should use a tripod if you don’t have a steady hand.

Wedding photography is a specialized service where a professional takes photos that will be preserved for good. Most people hire the services of a wedding photographer on their wedding day. That is the reason wedding photography is considered as one of the most challenging branches of photography, not only because it relies of special techniques, but also because there is a complex production process behind it. So, you should do your homework before hiring a good wedding photographer. Below are some tips that may help you.

If you are going to get married, you should hire a good photographer and start the collaboration by expressing the goals they want to achieve through that image. Although it is tempting to neglect this service, it is essential to point out that the success of a promotional activity can depend on the choice of photographer. There are many people who own a camera and many who are pros at using it. However, if you want to obtain a photo that you will love for the rest of your life, you have to work with someone that specializes in this exact niche. As it will be shown in the lines below, this service has several specific requirements, not only in terms of technique, but also in terms of concepts.

First of all, a wedding photographer is someone who knows how to take photos of different subjects in order to make them appealing to the eyes. Without a doubt, having state of the art equipment is necessary, but it is only one of the factors that determine the success of a photo.

Since the prices for DSLR cameras have dropped in the past years, many people now have such gear in their homes, but skill doesn’t come with a good lens and plenty of megapixels. It’s essential to hire someone who can properly operate a camera and, more importantly, someone who specializes in the wedding photography. Few people are aware of this, but every style of photography is different and there is no such thing as a photographer that masters all of them.

Wedding photographers know everything about the angles that the couples should be photographed from, the lighting to be used and the processing of the photo using specialized software. Hiring a photographer might be more expensive than taking the photos yourself, but you will definitely notice the difference after seeing the results.
